“Shadowmaker”, the eighth studio album released by the Finnish metal cellists Apocalyptica, is soon to be presented to the Croatian audience. On Thursday 15th of October, Apocalyptica will perform their new album as a part of the “Shadowmaker Tour 2015” in Tvornica Kulture. This will be their first show in Zagreb since 2011. The band, or maybe better to say, orchestra, was formed in 1993, and by 2015 have released seven studio albums, featuring numerous cello-based instrumentals along with some vocal-based songs.
Since their beginning, the band have tried to distinguish themselves from others by exploring different music styles and incorporating elements from a wide variety of genres such as classical music, folk, atmospheric music, progressive rock and, of course, metal. Their music can be described as gripping, dynamic and full of melody, but at some point, still aggressive and powerful. This hybrid of classically-trained cellists and heavy metals successfully combines two different worlds, the world of classical music and hard rock. This is where lies the beauty of this beast called Apocalyptica. Tickets in advance for this event are available for 140 kn, and on the day of the concert for 160 kn.
