The 28th Zagreb Marathon is ahead of us as it will be held on Sunday, October 13th 2019, while the opening of the marathon and Štrukla Party will be held on Saturday the 12th at Ban Jelačić Square at the very start/finish zone of the marathon, starting at 7:00 pm. This year is expected more than 6000 runners.
The start of the Garmin 10 km race is at 9:00 am, while the marathon and half-marathon races start at 10:00 am. Zagreb Marathon route extends through the center of town. Start and finish are right in the center on the main square, and runs on the east to Dubec, and west to Črnomerec. Marathon run two rounds and half-marathon run one.
This year’s Zagreb Marathon is of a humanitarian nature, because through registration forms all participants can choose to donate symbolic funds for the rehabilitation of people with transplanted lungs conducted by the INSPIRO association. All runners participating in the humanitarian race will have a quote “Let the batteries fill their lungs” on their T-shirt as a symbolic sign of gratitude for their contribution to the quality and professional work of rehabilitating people in the transplant process.
The marathon will be followed through all day by different music performances. Except a lot of different DJ-s through whole weekend we can enjoy performance of ensemble Meštrović & Expresto. The ensemble was founded by the composer and pianist Matej Meštrović, who, with the pianist Kristina Bjelopavlovic Cesar and percussionist Borna Sercara, has been performing marathon performances for the last ten years throughout the world, producing original compositions and covers of famous classical works.
