The retrospective exhibition of a Dubrovnik sculptor Asim Hebib can be seen at Zagreb’s Mimara Museum until August 25, 2019.
The artistic creation of the Dubrovnik-based artist Asim Hebib (born in 1940) now lasts for more than half a century and is recognized by his unique manuscript, completely modern, between figurative and abstract, sculptures, finely polished surfaces of complete perfection of compact form. The author has carried out many cycles of sculptures primarily in stone and marble and prefers quartz stone from the Dubrovnik area. Apart from the stone, he also creates in wood, plaster, terracotta and bronze.
The retrospective includes sculptures from the earliest period of creativity, thematic cycles from the later and the last period of activity made of unique Brač stone, marble and quartz crystal stone. The retrospective emphasizes the contemporary sculpting cycles of organic forms in quartz, which have marked the creativity of the author, and the author remains true to this unique material until today, creating contemporary crystal poetry in stone.
