Kinoteka Cinema: A Robby Müller Week

This week, from Tuesday till Saturday, March 26 – 30, 2019, Kinoteka Cinema in Zagreb shows great movies from the Robby Müller (1940 – 2018) opus, a Dutch director of photography, who has made a strong contribution to the aesthetics of some of the most important film authors of today.

Müller is best known for his work on Wim Wenders movies, and a film Paris, Texas is considered to be the top of their 25-year cooperation. The Paris, Texas ,where Müller’s innovative recording techniques and mastery of natural light can be best seen, explains why many compare him with Vermeer and Caravaggio. Müller also collaborated on the most famous films by Jim Jarmusch, Wiliam Friedkin, Lars Von Trier and many others.

Zagreb’s Cinema Kinoteka decided to dedicate this week to the Robby Müller and screen five of his most-known films. Yesterday, they’ve shown Jim Jarmusch’s Mystery Train (1989), tonight – on Wednesday you have the opportunity to watch, also Jarmusch’s Ghost Dog: the Way of the Samurai from 1999. On Thursday, March 28th Kinoteka will screen To Live and Die in L.A (1985) directed by William Friedkin, while on Friday you can watch the biography of the famous American author Charles Bukowski – Barfly (1987) directed by Barbet Schroeder in which Mickey Rourke and Faye Dunaway play the main roles. The cycle will end on Saturday, 30 March, with the great, Palm d’Or – awarded, Paris, Texas.
