Let the Game Begin: Eurobasket 2015 opened!

President of the Republic of Croatia Kolinda Grabar-Kitarovic and FIBA Europe President Turgay Demirel opened EuroBasket 2015 in the Croatian capital Zagreb, earlier this evening. Zagreb City Mayor Milan Bandic, Representative of the Prime Minister of the Republic of Croatia and Minister of Science, Education and Sports, Vedran Mornar; Croatian Basketball Federation President Ivan Suker also attended the event. They congratulated Zagreb on becoming the host of such a big event.
Namely, for those who don’t know, today Zagreb became a part of the big basketball championship that will be, for the first time in history, hosted by more than one country. Eurobasket 2015 will take place from 5-10 September in Berlin, Germany; Montpellier, France; Riga, Latvia; and Zagreb.
The French city of Lille will be the host at the Final Phase in the 27,000-seat Pierre Mauroy Stadium from 12-20 September.
This unique hosting situation has led to an unprecedented number of ticket sales, with most of the games sold out and some other games having a limited number of tickets remaining available. All games will be broadcast online via livebasketball.tv*, as well as avia FIBA’s television broadcast partners around the world.
