Record Store Day 2016 This Saturday, Free Daytime Concerts Around Zagreb

Record Store Day was founded in 2007 as a celebration of culture of independently owned record stores in the wake of online streaming and buying services and big franchised stores in the US.  The idea had spread quickly, and by 2009 it became a global event celebrated every third Saturday in April.

The event has an all around support from record store owners, publishers, fans and most of all – musicians, of whom many release limited re-releases, new records and hold free gigs in their favorite stores, with Zagreb being no different.

Concerts will be held at following stores:

Nova Ploca – Bogoviceva street 5
LUCE 10:30 am
PRAVILA IGRE 11:00 am
MIA 11:30 am

Ducan Snova – Gunduliceva street 7
KIM VERSON 12:00 am
SOLAROV 12:30 am
MARIN JURIC CIVRO 1:00 pm

Dirty Old Shop – Tratinska street 18
SHE LOVES PABLO 1:00 pm

Free Bird – Tratinska street 50
DRIVIN’ BLIND 3:30 pm

Not every record store in Zagreb will have a band playing, but all will have discounts, promotions and sales throughout Saturday, including second hand vinyl shops, so it might be worth checking out if they have a great deal on an old record from your favorite band, or discover some new music from these parts.
