Sunk Roman Ship Discovered Near Pag

During the touristic diving Vedran Dorušić, the president of Diving Tourism Community of the Croatian Chamber of Economy, took part in the discovery of the Roman wreckage near the island of Pag, which is supposed to date from the beginning of the first century BC.

This is a significant new attraction for diving tourism which records a steady growth with 180 diving centers alongside coast. Croatian Ministry of Culture decided to help during the protection of this wreckage in collaboration with diving centers. Research in 2017 showed that up to 6% tourists in Croatia are motivated to visit Croatia because of the diving and even 16,3% choose diving as one of leisure activities during their holiday in Croatia.
