While Dubrovnik is the first place on the list of the most beautiful places to visit in Croatia, Zagreb took the ninth place, says The Huffington Post. In the article dedicated to the glories and beauties of Croatian cities, castles, landscapes, the Huffington reminds readers which top ten locations they must visit when they come to Croatia. According to what they wrote, you mustn’t miss the Croatian capital and here I why.
‘The elegant Croatian capital often loses out to the coastal resorts, but the medieval alleyways and sprawling parklands of Zagreb are worth a detour inland. Check out the city’s top museums, take a stroll around the scenic Lenuci’s Horseshoe, ride the funicular up to the Old Town of Gornji Grad, or escape the capital for the lush highlands of the Zagorje region.’
We can add few or more amazing things to see and do in Zagreb, and a few more outside the city. They didn’t mention big cities in the vicinity of Zagreb, so we would say that Samobor or Varazdin are two places you can’t skip… The Huffington wrote only about Zagorje region in general.
‘Stretching north of Zagreb to the Slovenian border, the picturesque Zagorje region is dotted with medieval castles, hilltop vineyards and thermal springs. Explore the historic town of Krapina, tour the traditional wine taverns, visit the fairy-tale Trakošćan Castle or take a hike through the scenic highlands.’
Other places you must visit are the Pelješac peninsula, Plitvice Lakes, Mljet, Dubrovnik, Split, Kornati, Makarska and Rovinj.
