The Hungarian National Opera and Ballet will perform at the Croatian National Theater with performances ‘The Merry Widow‘ by Franz Lehar in choreography by Ronald Hynd and ‘Hunyadi László‘ composed by Ferenc Erkel. Ballet comedy in three acts ‘The Merry Widow‘ is scheduled for September 10, and opera ‘Hunyadi László’ for September 11th.
In 1975, British choreographer Ronald Hynd reworked the most performed opera ‘The Merry Widow’ in a fantastic ballet by the order of the Australian Ballet, which was big news since the operas have not yet been transferred to the ballet stage at that time. The most beautiful parts of this humorous ballet are ‘pas de deux’ and solo performances, often complemented by comic pieces and pantomime.
With opera ‘Hunyadi László’ began the period of Hungarian national opera music. The opera premiered in 1844 and it represents one of the turbulent periods of Hungarian history, dating back to 1456. The opera will be performed in Hungarian with Croatian translation for this opportunity.
