With a track record of 5 years and more than 40 concerts, the ZEZ Festival is coming once again to light up the atmosphere at the KSET Club!
The festival will take place from April 16th to 22nd and besides the concerts, it will be a place where one can actively participate in sound/music related workshops and visit lectures and screenings.
Ex Eye will be holding the spotlight for the festivals opening day. The group was initiated by Colin Stetson, one of the pioneers of the experimental jazz scene. He performed in KSET back in 2013 when the ZEZ Festival first started so this appearance will bring back the familiar sounds of saxophone along with the bands experimental sounds of metal, EDM, free jazz and more. Stetson is otherwise known for collaborations and appearances on shows with numerous artists – Bon Iver, Arcade Fire, David Byrne and Lou Reed to name just a few. The introductory band for the dark magic of Ex Eye will be glocal mystic barbecue masters The Magickal WoW Band. They do not spare the words so you can expect ‘Total Disrespect for Music’.
Turning Jewels Into Water, a project by the drummer & composer Ravish Momin and percussionist & turntablist Val Jeanty is rooted in improvisation shaped by ritual, evokes the esoteric realms of the creative subconscious. Val recreates the ancient rhythm and pulse of Haiti through digital beats, while Momin, whose own musical background is rooted Indian, North African and Middle-eastern traditions, has developed an original blend of electro-acoustic beats, drawing together the improvisational traditions in Jazz and Indian music. On the 4th day of the festival (April 19th), they will be holding a workshop entitled ‘The Intersection of Ritual, Improvisation, Global Rhythms and Music-Technology’.
