Trip Hop Legend Tricky Promotes Latest Project ‘Skilled Mechanics’ at Mocvara club

Tricky is coming back to Zagreb on January 29th to promote his new project and upcoming album of the same name, Skilled Mechanics.

Twenty years after the release of Maxinquaye, an album that defined the trip hop genre and made the so-called Bristol sound famous around the world, Tricky remains one of the most appreciated and innovative artist to this day. His Skilled Mechanics project is a new chapter for Tricky that started when he moved to Berlin early in 2015.

Skilled Mechanics is a collaborative project that allows the producer and vocalist to work with many different artists, while at the same time pushing his unique vocal talents to the forefront. A practice he implemented for the first time on his 2014 album Adrian Thaws.

The album that is due to come out on January 22nd is currently being promoted with singles Beijing To Berlin, a brash hip-hop track featuring guest vocals from Chinese rapper Ivy, which promptly sold out on limited edition 7″, and Diving Away, a version of Porpoise Head by Porno For Pyros sung by Tricky’s long time drummer Luke Harris.

‘The name comes from a documentary about espionage,’ Tricky explains. ‘There was an ex-C.I.A. agent on this program speaking about assassins who were sent abroad by the US to start revolutions and topple governments. He called them ‘skilled mechanics.’ I thought that was a great name for someone who was a killer basically. The name was so dark and cynical it just stuck with me.’

Tricky will play at Mochvara club, Trnjanski nasip bb, on January 29th. Pre-sale tickets cost 140 kn, on the day of the concert 160 kn.
