Croatian brothers Valent and Martin Sinković took the pair’s title at the European Championships at the Strathclyde Country Park near Glasgow this Saturday.
So far, Sinković brothers had won gold in the men’s double at the Rio Olympics and two golds at the World Championships but this June they won gold in the new discipline- rowing in pairs at the World Cup in Belgrade. During European Championships their biggest threat were silver-winning French brothers Onfroy. “We said to the French team before the race that we will make up for Croatia’s defeat in the World Cup in Russia. So we made that prediction come true!” said Valent laughing.
The Sinković’s finished in a time of 6:26:42 while the French pair finished in second with a time of 6:27:40 and Romania took bronze in a time of 6:29:39. The celebration won’t last long for the brothers as they have to start with preparations for the World Championships in Bulgaria, that starts on September 9th.
Congratulations to the Sinković brothers!
