The top-class musical menu of this season’s Saturday at Lisinski will be enhanced by the appearance of one of the world’s greatest orchestras, Kremerata Baltica, which is coming to Lisinski on April 6th, 2019.
The ensemble composed of musicians from Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia has proved its quality and global reputation with many appearances at the world’s most famous music halls. It has received numerous awards, among which the Grammy and ECHO in 2002, as well as the Praemium Imperiale in 2009.
Its founder, notable violinist Gidon Kremer, deserves most credit for their global success. Student of the renowned violinist David Oistrakh at the Moscow Conservatory, winner of the biggest international violin competitions, Queen Elisabeth, Paganini and Tchaikovsky, he has gained the reputation of one of the most original artists of his generation. He has appeared at almost all world’s concert halls, given numerous recitals and, as a soloist, collaborated with the most celebrated orchestras of Europe and North America and with the greatest conductors of the second half of the 20th century.
Always open for new ideas and moving the boundaries of music, for Lisinski concert Kremer prepares a specially designed program. The Seven Last Words of Our Savior on the Cross, op. 51, Hob XX:1B of Joseph Haydn and String Quartet No. 15 in E-flat minor, Op. 144 of Dmitri Shostakovich, enriched by innovative and interesting interpretation.
