The 2nd Croatian Funk Conference, organized by Croatian Funk Delegation, will be held on Saturday, October 15th at The Garden Brewery and Pepper club. The Funk Conference, as well as the delegation, is a non formal gathering of DJ, producers, critics and other music related folk in search for the perfect dance rhythms found on vinyls from the 60ies, 70ies and 80ies, those containing film music, chansons, soul, funk and disco, and giving them a fresh coat of production paint.
They are all avid vinyl collectors and DJs and their goal is to search and find forgotten musical gems from all over the world, with a special focus on the homegrown stuff: soul, disco and funk from the communist era.
The central event of the conference is at the Garden Brewery club, starting from 10 pm. Fourteen DJ will hold back to back sets of 13 minutes showing of what they discovered and how they’ve put their discoveries together, from space oriental disco and German big band jazz funk to screamo northern soul and highlife afrobeat.
Pepper club will hold lectures about the histroy of DJing, spin and scratch techniques, remixing and other elements of DJing from 4:15pm that Saturday. The party par of the conference will cost 30kn before midnight, 40kn after.
