Croatian National Theater in Zagreb (HNK) will start off its premiere run for 2016 with Frédéric Verrières‘ opera Mimi in Croatian rendition, co-produced by HNK and Bouffes du Nord theater in Paris.
The opera, in its original form, had already been performed at HNK in January 2015 with great reception from the audience. This rendition of Mimi is directed by Guillaume Vincent and performed by Leon Košavić, Maja Posavec, Mia Domaćina, Đani Stipaničev, Gorana Biondić and Vanda Winter, under the conducting of Ivan Josip Skeder and Darijan Ivezić.
‘Mimi is a piece based on themes from La Bohème, but in a way that metamorphoses the original music’ said Nikša Bareza, director of Opera at HNK, ‘Puccini’s work is questioned from a modern perspective, Verrières freely reinterprets Mimi, projecting a heroine for the 21th century, analyzing all dimensions of love in a modern society. Themes of art and poverty are still present, but it focuses on love above all’
Mimi will be performed on January 18th, 19th, 20th, and 21st, starting at 7:30 pm. Tickets can be bought at HNK and range from 90 to 160 kn, dependent on the sitting position.
