Sports event of the year in Croatia is coming very soon in two of our biggest cities – Zagreb and Rijeka! From the 12th of July until the 25th of July European University Games in Zagreb and Rijeka will occupy these two towns with 4781 participants and even more members of their teams, families and groups.
– So the number of the people rises to 5786, it is impressive – said the president of the Committee for Sports ESI2016 Danira Bilic. The competitors are coming from 403 universities and 41 European countries. Most athletes, 410 of them, are coming from Britain, 400 from Germany, 330 from France, 320 from Portugal, 280 from Turkey, 230 from Spain and 200 from Slovenia.
-We are especially happy that the participants are coming from countries such as Iceland and Israel – said the organisers. The impressive opening ceremony of the European University Games will be held on 13 July at 21 pm at the Mladost Stadium near Student dorm Stjepan Radic. The ceremony is directed by the famous teather director Kresimir Dolenčić. The admission will be free for all interested persons, but they have to ensure their ticket on time.
The most active and exciting part of the Games are the volunteers. Besides the one from Croatia, there will be about 200 volunteers from all over the world, even as far as Japan, Australia, and Mexico.
