During the Advent season, Zagreb offers a variety of events that will satisfy even the most demanding visitors. Plenty of fun, excellent food, unique events, art, but also a genuine Christmas atmosphere, await you on the streets of Croatia’s capital. This year’s Zagreb Christmas Market is being held from 1st December, 2018 to 6th January, 2019.
In the last three years, Zagreb was voted the best Christmas market in Europe by European Best Destinations’ online poll, against very strong competition. Some of the spots you definitely shouldn’t miss are Ban Josip Jelačić Square with its huge Christmas tree, the fountain transformed into a light display and a place with a lot of kiosks serving delicious food and beverages called Christmas Tale; Fooling around (Fuliranje)- an innovative and modern cultural and gastronomic event during the Advent season, with a recognizable design and a relaxed atmosphere; Zrinjevac Park – one of the loveliest spots in Zagreb with thousands of lanterns lighting up the avenues of trees and the old music pavilion, numerous artists’ stalls and a great selection of traditional Christmas gifts, Christmas food and drink specialties from decorated tiny wooden huts; Advent on Stross; Klovićevi Dvori and Caffe de Matoš on Upper Town.
But this is just a part of Zagreb Christmas Fairy Tale, there is much more to be seen, such as Ice Park at Tomislavac or Marić Passage. Each year Advent in Zagreb gets a bit better, and here’s a proof that Zagreb took care of every little possible detail!
