Croatia Marks Independence Day

Twenty seven years ago Croatian Parliament decided to end all of the of state-law relations with the former state Yugoslavia and proclaimed independence. Since then, Croatians celebrate 8th of October as the Independence Day.

Croatian Prime Minister Andrej Plenković congratulated the holiday to Croatian citizens expressing gratefulness to the war veterans for their heroism and also reminded us of our duty to build a successful and organised society. The Independence Day was implemented by the Ivica Račan’s government in 2001. It was celebrated for the first time in 2002.
