The topic for the season 2016/2017 was ‘Cultural tourism’ with the focus on promoting the sustainable models of tourism. Eighteen European destinations were given the EDEN award. Besides the ‘Vukovar – Vučedol – Ilok’, there were 4 more contestants for the award from Croatia: ‘Đakovo city – the municipality of Gorjani’, ‘Rural Konavle’, ‘Smiljan – Gospić’ & ‘Zagorje – fairy tale on a palm’.
