On the occasion of 145th anniversary of the birth of Marija Jurić Zagorka, her memorial apartment at the address Dolac 8 will have open doors on 1st of March.
Marija Jurić Zagorka was the first Croatian female journalist and a writer. She was a very influential figure at the time and was engaged in political journalism, activist and feminist work and her writing career. Her novels left an important mark on Croatian literature and including her theater pieces, her work was adored by the public.
The memorial apartment is run by the Center for Women’s Studies, and they invite everyone to visit the exhibition and find out details about the private life of Marija Jurić Zagorka, as well as her work and career. The apartment doors will be opened from 11 am to 4 pm, and the program includes guided tours, an educational game where visitors will learn more about other influential women in the fields of culture, politics, science and human rights. The game starts at noon, and there will be a screening of movie ‘Zagorka’ at 2 pm.
