Terry Fox Run: Working together to outrun cancer

As the world becomes more homogenized, so too does the Terry Fox Run. In honor of Terry Fox’s legacy in the fight against cancer, annual charity jogging/walking/cycling event, known as Marathon of Hope will be held in Zagreb, on September 20th with the motto of “working together to outrun cancer”.

The Terry Fox Run, named in honor of Canadian amputee runner Terry Fox who at 21, attempted to run across Canada to raise money for cancer research, is no longer just a Canadian tradition. Countries around the world stage annual events in support of Terry’s dream of finding a cure for cancer. Nearly all monies raised at Terry Fox Runs outside Canada are retained in the host country, funding cancer research projects at recognized research institutions approved by The Terry Fox Foundation on the advice of The Terry Fox Research Institute. All proceeds and goodwill contributions raised in Zagreb will be donated to the Institute Ruder Boskovic for cancer research.
