Zagreb Film Festival will be held this November, from 11th to 19th, at the usual city locations – Cinema Europa, Cinema Tuškanac, The Museum of Contemporary Art and F22 – New Academic Scene. The festival will last nine days (two weekends included) and will bring over a hundred screenings and movies, as well as fifteen programs.
From the very beginning, the Zagreb Film Festival has been presenting and promoting debut films and new authors. So far, major directors such as Steve McQueen, Cristian Puiu, Radu Jude, Xavier Dolan, Andrej Zvjagincev, Taika Waititi, Jeff Nichols and others have been competing in the main competition program, while the national competition program – Checkers, is gathering and presenting the works of new authors from the domestic film scene.
Other sections include My First Film which brings the best of debut films from around the world, The Great Five which program will present new titles from five largest movie industries in Europe (United Kingdom, Germany, France, Italy and Spain) and Bib for Kids that holds screenings with films appropriate for children and young audiences.
Apart from the screenings, there will be an Industry section. This section will be all about education and will host a series of workshops, talks, and panels intended for film professionals and everyone who has interest in learning all the different aspects of film production. My First Script workshop will also be held, and it is intended for all the filmmakers who are wanting to prepare a screenplay for their first feature film.
