One of the funniest and definitely one of the scariest weekends of the year is just around the corner. Yes, you are right – HALLOWEEN is about the start! Bet you already have your costumes prepared and some of you have probably started planning and making them quite a while ago, huh? Are we right?
Well, Croats LOVE Halloween, and with each year we are getting more innovative and imaginative. So if you get a chance to visit Zagreb during these next three days, you are up for a big surprise and the craziest times ever. And you WILL have a lot of pics on your phone to make your FB, Twitter or Instagram friends jealous.
So this year, hardworking and fun-loving Zagreb citizens prepared all sorts of surprises (we won’t reveal every little secret!) for kids, teens, adults, the sad and the happy – all for the purpose that for one (or two?) night you forget all your worries and pretend that you are living your dream. So, let’s start. And the choice is… Well, let’s talk about clubs first.
Friday
The craziness starts on Friday, so you can also start partying at the Night Club Ludilo, in Dubravica 18, Stenjevec, (which is not even remotely close to the center, but you can easily arrange transport). As a part of their event called EMC RAVEUNION: HALLOWEEN LUDILO (Halloween Madness), which starts October 30 and ends October 31 at 10 AM, you can enjoy the return of the legendary EMC team – Kodra Returns! They were once quite popular in the Gjuro2 Club. The crime scene changed, but the culprits are still the same so is their mission- to give you extra audio pleasure, all the way to ecstasy. FABIAN JAKOPETZ, trance trio ALIEN VISITORS (KODRA, VICTOR FROM QBEEK and VICKY MERLINO) and club resident Red Queen will make your night unforgettable!
Entrance – 30HRK; MUSIC GENRE: TECHNO, PROGRESSIVE TRANCE (RAVE CONCEPT OF EMC).
The Gallery Club on Aleja Matije Ljubeka also holds their traditional Halloween party. Their scary gates open on Friday, October 30, 11PM, and if you hurry and get there in a scary mask, you will be rewarded with a free welcome shot, but only the first hundred have that chance, so be quick! Additionally, you can try the Scary Special Cocktail at a discounted price. The best costumes will be rewarded, so once again, creativity is very much appreciated!
Saturday
At the Boogaloo Club, Vukovarska Street 68, they organized thealready traditional annual program, „Tooloomeeshka Halloween vol.4“, starting 10 PM.
For this night, they promised everyone shelter from all kinds of malefactors in search for victims, blood, organs or just a mobile charger. Although they don’t doubt the shelter security, they recommend costumes to strengthen the protection. Also, they promised a great photographer, Marin Oršula –so get ready for those profile pics! Drink prices will be affordable, and the entrance is 30HRK. In the DJ kitchen their abilities will, again, confirm, Hexwel, Phillip Wright, Herman Role- and Marac who will cook in edm/house rhythm.
If you like lighter music, then go to Močvara, where DJ Mario Kovač is hosting MOČVARNI (swamp) HALLOWEEN PARTY from October 31, 9 PM till November 1st, 6 AM. Last year they broke all the records with over 2000 people, and their recipe is simple – cheap booze, the scariest costumes and a musical time machine – from early rock from the 50s (Elvis, Chuck Berry…), psychedelic 60s (Beatles, Stones, Doors, Led Zeppelin…), 70s (Ramones, Clash, Sex Pistols…), electro 80s (Michael Jackson, Madonna, Depeche Mode…), grunge and brit pop of the 90s (Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Oasis, Blur…) till today. Entrance is, well, you’ve guessed it, 30HRK.
Vintage Industrial Bar will celebrate this day under the name HALLOWEEN PARTY: Famous Monsters (Misfits tribute). The show starts Saturday 10 PM and lasts till Sunday 5 AM.
If you are not familiar with the Famous Monsters, they are a tribute band to the Misfits, and the members come from a lot of different bands. For this party, they have prepared a whole bunch of songs about tragic events, dead wives, digging up bones, alien attacks… So dress accordingly, drop by the Vintage Castle and enjoy all the wonders they have prepared for you. Entrance – free until 10 PM, after – 20HRK, free for students.
For the biggest Halloween lovers, pop in the most legendary club in Zagreb – Jabuka. Their program „TWILIGHT HALLOWEEN PARTY“ starts Saturday 10 PM and lasts Sunday 5 AM, with a ticket price of 20 HRK.
So, why is this so special?
Well, the Twilight Halloween Party is a sort of tradition, and Jabuka is one of the first places that held Halloween parties in Zagreb. And this year the party celebrates its 20th anniversary! Jabuka was (and still is) the best place to be, like a cradle of Goth music, but not exclusive as you will be able to see… Or hear. The master Tomi Phantasma will entertain you with appropriate audio-video mix of dark hits from the 80s to this day, so you can expect post-punk, new wave, synth pop, dark rock, darkwave, gothic, ebm, industrial, punk, indie, alter, gothic metal… In other words – Bauhaus, Joy Division, Dead Can Dance, The Cure, Siouxsie, David Bowie, Iggy Pop, The Sisters Of Mercy, The Damend, Christian Death, Killing Joke, Fields Of The Nephilim, Mizar, Rosetta Stone, London After Midnight, Clan Of Xymox, Cassandra Complex, Front 242, Nitzer Ebb, Borghesia, Laibach, Die Krupps, Rammstein, Marilyn Manson, Nine Inch Nails, Rob Zombie, Depeche Mode, Human League, Ultravox, The 69 Eyes, Moonspell, Tiamat, Type O Negative, Paradise Lost, Satyricon, Mortiis, Misfits, Ramones, Dead Kennedys, Gary Numan, Heroes Del Silencio, Him, The Cult, Pixies, Nick Cave, The Smiths, The Stranglers, Violent Femmes, White Lies, Diva Destruction, Placebo, Love Amongst Ruin….
The Twilight Halloween Party, thanks to the spooky atmosphere, guests’ clothes and, of course, the music, is undoubtedly the darkest, the most attractive and the most credible Halloween party. The best masks and costumes get prizes!
With all the mentioned above, we have to warn you that there will be a dance & fire performance, „Dark Waltz“ by Zagreb dance group Walde with guest Nera Paradox on the terrace of the club. Actually, it’s a short two-piece story about souls, demons, angels and other beings „from the other side“.
A Halloween party in Tvornica (Subiceva Street 2) starts October 31, 9 PM and ends the next day at 4 AM.
They based this night on concerts – first on the program are a young rapper MC Sajsi from Belgrade and the duo called Krankšvester (Triki & Sett) from Osijek. After their performance, there is an after party on two floors – one reserved for hip-hop/ rap & trap, bangerzz & G-funk. The other one will be perfect for R’n’B-a, pop and indie electro lovers.
Tickets are 40 HRK, and on the day of the concert 55 HRK. Tickets for the after party can be bought in advance for 20HRK, or for 30HRK after 00:30 on the day of the show.
Warning: prepare your ID, because you won’t be able to get in if you are under 18!
Katran Halloween – Put you masks and costumes on and come to Katran, Radnicka Street 27.The party starts at 10 PM, and if you come, beware as someone might drink your blood or maybe do something even worse! You don’t have to wear masks, but if you do, you will get in sooner and cheaper, and you will have a better time than others. DJ Franky aka Count Dracula himself will be in charge of music – and you better don’t complain. On the four floors, our neighbours from Shock Show Industry will help Count Dracula. The number of people is limited, and you have to be older than 21 to get in.
SHANKHIGH Halloween by BSH events – After they took over the medieval fortress Medvedgrad, it was time to move on. Now they are hosting the biggest Halloween party ever held in Zagreb. The event will be held on Saturday 31, starting at 9 PM at the Chinese Pavilion at Zagreb Fair (Kineski paviljon – Zagrebački velesajam). Lineup includes DJ Bizzo Bodega, Matroda, Aldo Morro, Blacksoul, Tom Bug and a few more. Also, there will be a VIP area of 300 square meters located in the gallery overlooking the venue.
Tickets are 50HRK until October 31 when the tickets go up.
