The force will be with you tomorrow in the centre of Zagreb, when Darth Vader, Stormtroopers, Yoda and the rest of the Star Wars crew, start marching down Ilica street. Dressed in festive robes, they will walk and drive around the city to celebrate the 4th of May, International Star Wars Day!
May 4 is considered a holiday by some Star Wars fans, that’s when they celebrate the franchise’s film series, books, and culture. The date was chosen for the easy pun on the catchphrase “May the Force be with you”— “May the Fourth be with you”. Even though the holiday was not created or declared by Lucasfilm, many Star Wars fans across the world choose to mark this special occasion. In 2011, the first organized celebration of Star Wars Day took place in Toronto, Ontario, Canada at the Toronto Underground Cinema.
Croatian fans in Zagreb will celebrate it with various SW characters who will take a stroll down Ilica and Oktogon and ride some Zagreb trams. From 5 pm to 6 pm, the Star Wars ‘family’ will ride on trams, at 6 pm they will hang out at Ban Jelacic Square. Around 7:30 pm the show will move to park Zrinjevac and approximately around 8 pm they will come to Oktogon.
