Theater of Philosophy is a program ran by Srećko Horvat, a Croatian philosopher, that hosts leading philosophers, thinkers, activists and artists from around the world on Croatian National Theater’ beautiful stage. Slavoj Žižek, one of the greatest living philosophers of today will be the guest of Theater of Philosophy at the Croatian National Theater on May 4th, 2019, at 8 pm.
Three years have passed since the Slovenian philosopher last visited the Croatian National Theater in Zagreb. This time, he returns with a lecture under the intrigued title ‘Under the Heavens There’s a Big Mess’. Our situation is pretty dangerous, Žižek claims, there’s a mess everywhere around us, from climate change to international relations, from biotechnology to sexual relations. But what if this chaos is a chance for a radical change?
Slavoj Žižek was born in Ljubljana in 1949. He received his doctorate at the Ljubljana University in 1981 and the other doctorate he defended in Paris at the University of Paris VIII. Today, Žižek is one of the most prominent and most popular philosophers, as evidenced by numerous books written about his work, as well as several documentary films. He has written more than fifty books translated into more than twenty world languages. Some call him ‘the most dangerous philosopher of the West’ and ‘Elvis of the cultural theory’.
