Zagreb World Theater Festival

The 16th edition of World Theater Festival is being held from 15th till 29th of September at Croatian National Theater in Zagreb.

The performances to be shown during this year’s festival are Five Easy Pieces from director Milo Rau (art center CAMPO), Macbettu from Alessandro Serra (Teatro Sardageno) and Richard III. from Thomas Ostermeier (Schaubühne).

In the decade and a half, the festival has presented some of Europe’s biggest theater names, such as Pjotr Fomenko, Lev Dodin, Oskar Koršunovas, Luc Bondy, Stanislas Norday, Arpad Schiling, Pascal Rambert, Pippo Delbono and Robert Lepage to the local audience. For the first time, Croatian public will have the opportunity to enjoy works from European director stars Milo Rau and Alessandro Serra this September.

The first theater play of this year’s festival was Five Easy Pieces that was performed September 15-16. The next show on the Festival’s schedule will be held on September 21st. It is Macbettu performance directed by Alessandro Serra performed by Italian Sardegna Theater. The Council of Italian Critics proclaimed Macbettu the best Italian production in 2017 and was awarded the prestigious award Ubu.

The last performance Richard III. is scheduled for September 28 and 29.
